BCM-95 combines curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bis-demethoxycurcumin, and turmeric essential oils. The reference sheet describes double steam distillation of the oils, with turmeric volatile components contributing to the formulation’s absorption approach.

A closer look at the research

The supplied Curcu-Gel report describes a sequential comparison in four adults aged 20–30. Each received 2,000 mg of conventional curcumin and, one week later, 2,000 mg of BCM-95 SG in Curcu-Gel Softsules. The report found an average 8.2-fold difference in blood exposure (area under the curve). This small study evaluated a specific Curcu-Gel preparation, not the finished Active Factors product; it does not establish an 8.2-fold benefit for this bottle.

A closer look at the research

The current technical sheet summarizes a double-blind, randomized crossover pharmacokinetic study in 20 healthy adults. At a study dose of 6 g of oil (1,800 mg EPA and 1,200 mg DHA), MaxSimil showed approximately threefold or greater differences in several absorption measures versus ethyl ester fish oil. The cited report is unpublished manufacturer data; the study dose is not the one-softgel serving, and absorption findings are not a promise of threefold clinical benefit. Other research in the sheet includes cell and animal studies.

What makes this formula distinctive

Phytosome technology complexes quercetin with phospholipids to improve its delivery. Nettle provides botanical compounds studied in respiratory and immune pathways; vitamin C is an antioxidant involved in immune function and quercetin recycling; NAC is a precursor to glutathione and has antioxidant activity.*

A closer look at the research

The supplied sheet cites a single-dose crossover study in 12 healthy volunteers: 500 mg of Quercetin Phytosome produced approximately 20-fold higher peak concentration and 18-fold higher total exposure than unformulated quercetin. The 250 mg dose produced a dose-dependent response. These ingredient-level findings are not a “20 times more effective” claim for Quercetin Plus. The sheet also cites a four-week placebo-controlled study in 66 adults with eye and nose discomfort and notes that further well-designed human studies are needed for nettle.
